DESCRIPTION:Dr. Eric Verdin is the President and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Novato. \nThe Buck is the first and the largest independent research institute in the world that is focused solely on aging. At the Buck\, his lab studies the relationship between aging and the immune system. \nDr. Verdin was born in Liege\, Belgium\, received his MD from the University of Liege and did his training at Harvard Medical School.  Prior to coming to the Buck Institute\, he was a Senior Investigator and the Associate Director of the Gladstone Institute. He is also a professor at the University of California\, San Francisco. \nDr. Verdin has published more than 280 scientific papers\, holds more than 15 patents\, and consults with multiple biotech and pharmaceutical companies. He is in the top 1% of the most highly cited scientists in the world and a global thought leader in the field of aging.
