Ken Wayne was in the TV News business virtually his entire adult life, first as a Navy journalist in Armed Forces Radio and Television overseas, then as a reporter at various stations across California. He spent the last 32 years at KTVU and KRON 4, working his way up to becoming the main anchor for the evening news. Over the years, he was at the scenes of some of the biggest stories in California and the country, including 9-11 in New York, Hurricane Katrina, the Las Vegas mass shooting, and major earthquakes and fires at home. He’s also interviewed countless political leaders, entertainers and other news makers.
After retiring from the news business, he focused on growing his non-profit animal rescue foundation, “Flying Tails”. He flies wild and domestic at-risk animals to safety in his Cessna 182 airplane. Those trips have included everything from bear cubs and bald eagles to dogs rescued from Chinese slaughterhouses and cats rescued from kill shelters.
Ken and his wife, Carole, moved to Sonoma in 2022 after living in Petaluma and San Francisco. They have two rescue animals at home – Bigs, the elderly cat, and Stevie Licks, the high-octane chihuahua mix.
